Hmm.

Man there's just SO much here. My first concern is get some real equipment or software. Maybe I just don't like this particular tone. I dunno what kind of set up your using so I don't want to just assume it's shoddy, but I hope you see my point.

To be honest I have very little patience for long single-instrument compositions. I kept going back and forth between bored and "I need to rewind and hear that again." Around 6 minutes in, those 6 or 7 seconds are my favorite. I know it's odd to pin point a 5 second clip of a 7 minute composition but everything was spot on there. The melody, the dynamics, the progression. There are moments like that throughout the piece, but for the most part its pretty much (above) average. Another good moment is from 7minutes to about 7:20 as it's winding down.

I'd really like to see you try some shorter pieces and create something that strikes me as a song, in the way that these "moments" did.

Bit of a long winded review, if you want to talk more feel free to send me a message, about music, composition or whatever.

Dude09 responds:

lol thank you for the critical review, its the best kind :) i see what you mean, i use sibelius. thx for the above average rating (shows i'm getting somewhere) and yeah i'm working on a shorter piece now so yeah keep in touch, just out of curiosity though, are you a music major?

Hm.

Thanks for the review on my song. The progression here is really simple, but I like the melodies you create. My one gripe is the obscene amount of reverb you're using. When it comes to reverb subtlety is usually best. I like the use of echo/delay though. I look forward to seeing more piano-centric pieces from you.

YingYangCrunk responds:

Thanks so much for the review man. I'll remember that and use less reverb.

Wow!

This really takes me back to those old school console games, and that's definitely a good thing. I don't have anything constructive to say, but well done.

cRAVE01 responds:

Glad you liked it ^_^

Very interesting.

I really enjoyed this and would be interested to see how long it took you to compose. The piano really surprised me when it came in. One thing I noticed was that the bass was hardly audible most of the time. Obviously it might be a pain to re-record for the sake of raising the bass, but you might want to look into some compression/remastering if you recorded each instrument to a separate track.
Overall a very interesting piece; my favorite part being the piano chords from 2:20 to 2:24.

lemonyfresh09 responds:

its a cello not a bass... which is one of the reasons it sounds "wrong". This guy was trying to pizzicatto like a cellist not a bassists which made it sound odd.

Airports..

I'm a really huge fan of big texturey walls of sound, but the beginning of this is just too much I think. Perhaps if it were faded in and out, and where just so suddenly intense. Although, I suppose that is a lot like an airport. I enjoyed when the drums started, but it would've been nice to have a change up in the bass at this point, I'm not really seeing the "blue or purple" sky you're describing. It's a good tune though. :)

race1 responds:

lol I know it's not the best but thanks for reviewing it. That's good that you liked it. I should've put in a fade in.

Awesome!

This really is an awesome piece. I honestly can't find anything wrong with it. I feel like I should be in a carnival or some other really cheery awesome place... Gold Saucer. >_>

race1 responds:

lol thanks. TO tell you the trutyh, it reminds me of one of those party games where you're at a main menu or a mini game select menu....

I can just imagine some happy voice saying something like "Main Game!" or "Select a mode!"

Neat.

There were a lot of great ideas in here, but I think they weren't executed as well as they good be. A handful of the wood-windy instrument's notes sounded really dissonant, which you might've done on purpose but I thought sounded odd. This seems like it would be a really great mellow track, but the instruments seem to clash with each other in a lot of places. The first 14 seconds or so were my favorite.

Vortex00 responds:

Thanks for the feedback, I'll have to come back and work on it.

Hm.

I don't know whether this was made in satire or as a serious track(doubting it) but Noize is already a genre of music. Government Alpha and Venetian Snares come to mind.

TeDdY-BeAr-Junktion responds:

N***A THIS AINT NOISE ITZ GANGSTA ASS NOIZ

Wow.

I don't know if its you playing guitar, or if you've just written the part. Either way you have a real talent for composing catchy lead lines. Really well done.

NemesisTheory responds:

i've arranged it in FL Studio (the notes etc), but it's not a real guitar at all! :p

you think so? thanks a lot :D
i'm glad you liked it! :)
